The Mama Africa Mix by Alan Bell
Since our formation nearly four years ago (woah, shit, really?) a fundamental question has remained shamefully dormant and unaddressed at the heart of this publication. A question so cutting and exacting toward the essence of who are and who we are not, that to stare it in the face was to commit oneself to a form of self investigation reserved only for the ancients and the folkloric. And that question is this: Can you really be a Brooklyn based magazine and not have a soundcloud?
Well finally, as of today, we no longer have to live in fear of that question. Because we have finally provided an answer. That’s right folks, it’s exactly what you’ve been asking for…. we got a soundcloud and we’re posting mixes on it.
Our first one was blessed upon us by Alan Bell, a New-York-based-Texas-raised musician and jack-of-all-trades. We present to you The Mama Africa Mix. “Songs from the motherland. Songs from the earth.” This mix consists of an hour and half or so of African jams as well as a bit of Alan’s own stuff sprinkled in there. Give it a listen!
